Opening for the venerable New York Film Festival. Simplicity and sophistication result in a dynamic effect - the director's names are called out through voiceover as they drop into the frame. A rhythmic cascading abstraction forms, the director's names ultimately slowing to a calmness, bringing the audience to the start of each of the festivals’ films.

Nuncle was asked to return to do the open animation for the NYFF. Given only a stack of black and white stills of some very famous people in film, Nuncle stitched together an open using technicolor type and overlays done in sequenced animations put to a great soul track - all to dynamic effect.

Nuncle was asked to return to produce an open animation for the New York Film Festival. Traveling through the quotes of famous film directors we move among the declarations that drive creativity and storytelling. Using the simplicity of basic shape and color we seek to distill the filmmaking process into its most practical, salient, and powerful components. Nuncle conceived and produced the piece from start to finish, choosing not only the look of type and animation but also the Brian Eno audio track.
